This exquisite pair of mid-19th century Chinese hat stands dates from the Tongzhi period (1862–1874) of the Qing Dynasty. Each hexagonal porcelain stand is beautifully hand-painted in vibrant famille rose enamels, depicting finely detailed courtly figures in garden scenes surrounded by clouds and auspicious motifs. The reverse side features elegant calligraphy panels, likely poetic inscriptions or dedications, rendered in delicate brushwork.
Standing 11 inches tall and measuring 4¾ inches across, these hat stands display the superb craftsmanship typical of high-quality Qing porcelain. The enameling is rich, precise, and colorful, with a strong sense of depth and balance in composition—hallmarks of refined 19th-century artistry.
Condition is overall very good for their age, approximately 150–175 years old. One hat stand has a spider hairline crack on the base, which does go through the porcelain but remains stable and confined to the underside, posing no structural concern. The bodies are free of restoration or major damage, with crisp lines and vivid enamels throughout.
A beautiful and authentic pair of Qing Dynasty famille rose hat stands, ideal for connoisseurs and collectors of fine Chinese antiques.
